SHIPPING POLICY
Last Updated: September 7, 2026
Mary Mae Greenhouses is a trade name of Mary Mae LLC, based in Erie, Pennsylvania.
We take special care when shipping live plants. Unlike ordinary merchandise, plants can be affected by transit time, temperature, weather, and delays. This Shipping Policy explains how we prepare and ship orders and what customers should expect after placing an order.
By placing an order with Mary Mae Greenhouses, you agree to this Shipping Policy and our applicable Terms of Service, Returns & Refunds Policy, and Live Plant Guarantee.
1. WHERE WE SHIP
Mary Mae Greenhouses ships eligible products within the United States.
Live plant availability may vary by destination because of agricultural regulations, weather conditions, carrier limitations, or other restrictions.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel shipments to destinations where we cannot legally or reasonably ship a particular product.
Any applicable shipping restrictions should be reviewed before placing an order.
2. ORDER PROCESSING
Orders require time to be selected, inspected, prepared, and packed before shipment.
Estimated processing times shown on our website are estimates rather than guaranteed shipment dates.
Processing may take longer during:
• Holidays
• Promotions and sales
• Periods of high order volume
• Severe weather
• Extreme temperatures
• Carrier disruptions
• Agricultural restrictions
• Other circumstances affecting safe shipment
Because we sell living products, we may intentionally hold an order when we believe waiting will provide the plant with a safer journey.
3. SHIPPING DAYS
Live plant orders are generally shipped on selected weekdays to reduce the likelihood that plants will remain in carrier facilities over a weekend.
Our shipping schedule may vary based on the destination, estimated transit time, holidays, weather, carrier operations, and seasonal conditions.
An order placed earlier in the week is not guaranteed to ship immediately if we determine that a later shipment date is safer for the plants.
Non-living merchandise may ship on a different schedule.
4. SHIPPING RATES
Shipping charges are calculated or displayed during checkout based on the applicable shipping method, order, destination, and other relevant factors.
Any free-shipping offers, discounted shipping promotions, or shipping thresholds are subject to the terms displayed with the applicable promotion.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, taxes and other charges do not count toward a free-shipping threshold.
We reserve the right to modify shipping rates and promotions for future orders.
5. SHIPPING METHODS AND DELIVERY ESTIMATES
Available shipping methods and estimated delivery times may be displayed during checkout.
Delivery dates and transit times are estimates and are not guaranteed unless a particular service is expressly identified as guaranteed.
Actual delivery may be affected by carrier operations, weather, holidays, address issues, transportation disruptions, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
6. TRACKING
When tracking information is available, it will generally be sent to the email address or contact information associated with your order.
Customers are responsible for monitoring their tracking information and making reasonable arrangements to receive live plant shipments promptly.
Tracking information may take time to update after a shipping label is created.
Creation of a shipping label does not necessarily mean the carrier has physically received the package.
7. LIVE PLANTS AND WEATHER
We monitor weather conditions when preparing live plant shipments.
Extreme heat or cold can create significant risks for plants in transit. We may delay shipment when we reasonably believe weather conditions at the origin, destination, or along the expected shipping route could threaten plant health.
Weather-related shipment holds may occur without the customer's prior approval.
A weather hold is not considered a shipping delay or failure to fulfill an order.
We would rather keep your plant safely with us for a little longer than knowingly send it into dangerous conditions.
8. WINTER SHIPPING
Mary Mae Greenhouses is located in Erie, Pennsylvania, and winter temperatures can be severe.
During cold weather, we may modify packing methods, delay shipments, temporarily suspend shipping to certain destinations, or take other reasonable precautions.
Where available, winter packaging, insulation, heat packs, expedited shipping, or other cold-weather measures may be used or offered.
No packaging method can completely eliminate the risks associated with shipping living plants through extreme temperatures.
We reserve the right to determine when conditions are unsuitable for live plant shipping.
9. HOT WEATHER SHIPPING
Extreme heat can also damage live plants.
During periods of excessive heat, we may delay shipment, adjust our shipping schedule, or temporarily restrict shipments to affected destinations.
Customers should retrieve packages immediately after delivery whenever high temperatures are expected.
10. PROMPT PACKAGE RETRIEVAL
Live plant packages should be brought indoors as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Do not leave plants for extended periods:
• On porches
• In direct sunlight
• In mailrooms
• In parcel lockers
• In vehicles
• Outdoors during freezing temperatures
• Outdoors during extreme heat
• In other unsuitable environments
Damage caused or substantially worsened by a package remaining exposed after confirmed delivery may not qualify under our Live Plant Guarantee.
11. SHIPPING ADDRESSES
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout.
Please verify your:
• Recipient name
• Street address
• Apartment, suite, or unit number
• City
• State
• ZIP code
before submitting your order.
If you notice an address error, contact us immediately.
We will make reasonable efforts to correct an address before shipment, but changes cannot be guaranteed once an order has been processed or transferred to the carrier.
Additional shipping costs resulting from an incorrect or incomplete address may be the customer's responsibility where permitted by law.
12. APARTMENTS, MAILROOMS AND PACKAGE LOCKERS
Customers shipping to apartments, offices, dormitories, mailrooms, package rooms, parcel lockers, or other shared delivery locations are responsible for understanding their property's package procedures.
A package may be considered delivered when the carrier delivers it to the location authorized for deliveries at the provided address.
Because live plants are temperature sensitive, we strongly recommend retrieving them promptly.
13. SHIPPING TO BUSINESSES
Customers shipping plants to businesses should verify that the business will be open and able to receive the package on the anticipated delivery date.
Mary Mae Greenhouses is not responsible for damage resulting from a shipment being left unattended because a business was closed or unavailable to receive delivery.
14. CARRIER DELAYS
Once an order has been transferred to a shipping carrier, some aspects of transportation are outside Mary Mae Greenhouses' control.
Carrier delays may result from:
• Severe weather
• Transportation disruptions
• Mechanical issues
• Holiday volume
• Labor disruptions
• Incorrect routing
• Natural disasters
• Government actions
• Other carrier-related circumstances
A carrier delay does not automatically mean a plant has been damaged.
If your plant arrives significantly damaged after a carrier delay, contact us according to the requirements of our Live Plant Guarantee.
15. LOST PACKAGES
If tracking information indicates that a package has not moved for an unusual period or appears to have been lost in transit, please contact us.
We may ask you to allow reasonable time for the carrier to locate or deliver the shipment before a resolution is issued.
Where appropriate, Mary Mae Greenhouses may initiate or assist with a carrier claim.
Resolution of a lost shipment will depend on the circumstances and applicable carrier information.
16. PACKAGES MARKED DELIVERED BUT NOT RECEIVED
If tracking indicates that your package was delivered but you cannot locate it, we recommend promptly:
• Checking around the delivery location
• Checking with household members
• Checking with neighbors when appropriate
• Checking mailrooms, package rooms, reception areas, or parcel lockers
• Contacting the shipping carrier
Please contact Mary Mae Greenhouses promptly if the package remains missing.
We will make reasonable efforts to assist, but a carrier's confirmed delivery scan may affect the resolution available depending on the circumstances.
17. DAMAGED SHIPPING BOXES
If your shipping box arrives visibly crushed, punctured, wet, opened, or otherwise significantly damaged, photograph the package before discarding it.
Please retain the plant, shipping box, packaging materials, and shipping label until your claim has been resolved.
These materials may be necessary for us to evaluate the damage or submit a claim to the carrier.
18. PLANTS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT
Some minor shipping stress is normal for live plants.
Temporary wilting, minor soil displacement, an occasional damaged leaf, small blemishes, or similar cosmetic changes do not necessarily indicate that a plant is unhealthy.
If your plant arrives dead or significantly damaged, please follow our Live Plant Guarantee.
Claims generally require photographs and must be submitted within the timeframe specified in that policy.
19. AGRICULTURAL RESTRICTIONS
Live plants are subject to federal, state, and local agricultural laws, quarantines, and pest regulations.
Certain plants may be prohibited or restricted from shipment to particular states, territories, counties, or other jurisdictions.
Mary Mae Greenhouses reserves the right to:
• Restrict certain products by destination
• Cancel prohibited shipments
• Modify an order to comply with applicable requirements
• Request additional information when necessary
• Temporarily suspend shipments to affected areas
If we determine before shipment that an item cannot legally be shipped to your destination, we will cancel the affected item and issue an applicable refund.
20. CALIFORNIA, HAWAII, ALASKA AND U.S. TERRITORIES
Certain destinations may have additional agricultural requirements, longer transit times, carrier limitations, or other shipping restrictions.
Availability to these destinations may therefore differ from availability within the contiguous United States.
A product being displayed on our website does not guarantee that it can be shipped to every U.S. destination.
The availability presented during checkout or communicated by Mary Mae Greenhouses will control.
21. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Mary Mae Greenhouses does not ship live plants internationally.
22. COMBINED ORDERS
When possible, multiple products in the same order may be packaged together.
However, we reserve the right to divide an order into multiple shipments when necessary because of plant size, product type, inventory location, packaging requirements, weather, safety, or other operational considerations.
Receiving multiple shipments does not necessarily indicate that part of your order is missing.
23. PLANTS AND NON-LIVING PRODUCTS
Live plants and non-living products may require different packing or shipping methods.
We may ship products separately when doing so is safer or more practical.
24. GIFT ORDERS
Customers may ship eligible products directly to gift recipients.
The purchaser is responsible for providing the recipient's complete and accurate delivery information.
We strongly recommend making sure the recipient will be able to retrieve a live plant shipment promptly, particularly during extreme weather.
Pricing information may be omitted from gift shipments where our system and fulfillment process allow.
25. ORDER CHANGES AFTER PURCHASE
Contact us as quickly as possible if you need to change your shipping address, recipient, or other order information.
We cannot guarantee changes once an order has entered processing.
Once a package has been transferred to the carrier, Mary Mae Greenhouses may be unable to redirect or modify the shipment.
26. SHIPPING REFUNDS
Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable after an order has shipped except where required by law or where Mary Mae Greenhouses determines a refund is appropriate.
If an order is canceled by Mary Mae Greenhouses before shipment, applicable shipping charges paid for the canceled shipment will be refunded.
27. REFUSED AND UNDELIVERABLE PACKAGES
If a shipment is refused, returned to sender, or determined to be undeliverable because of an incorrect address, recipient refusal, repeated failed delivery attempts, or another customer-related issue, refund or replacement eligibility will be determined according to the circumstances and applicable law.
Because live plants are perishable, a returned live plant may no longer be saleable or recoverable.
Additional shipping charges may apply if reshipment is requested and available.
28. SHIPPING RISK AND OUR LIVE PLANT GUARANTEE
Shipping living plants inherently involves some risk.
Our shipping practices are designed to reduce that risk, but no packaging or carrier service can completely eliminate the effects of temperature, transit, handling, or delays.
Our Live Plant Guarantee provides the applicable remedy when an eligible plant arrives dead or significantly damaged.
Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
29. CHANGES TO THIS SHIPPING POLICY
Mary Mae Greenhouses may update this Shipping Policy as our shipping methods, carriers, service areas, products, or business practices change.
The version posted on our website at the time an order is placed will generally apply to that order, subject to applicable law.
